Pierre Girault de Nolhac (1859-1936) French historian, Director of the Versailles Museum from 1892 and over the next 30 years was responsible for restoring the Palace and writing a series of books on Versailles and its illustrious inhabitants.

From the Library of Jacques Cartier (1885-1942)one of the three sons of Alfred Cartier, jeweller. Jacques Cartier managed their London store from 1909 at 175 Bond Street.

Book condition Good/Very Good, no jacket as issued. Folio over 12 inches x 15 inches tall. 185 pages, many illustrations, photographs of statuary and fountains but also many early illustrations of layout and panoramas. No inscriptions, text in french.

Red half leather with marbled boards, some slight wear to the leather. Jacques Cartier leather bookplate on inside front board.
